Youths attacked for attempting stop illegal sand smuggling at Odisha-Bengal border

Jaleswar: Hundreds of trucks loaded with sand are allegedly being transported illegally through the Udaipur border in Balasore from Odisha towards West Bengal daily. Questions have been raised over the alleged open transportation of sand despite the presence of a police camp at the border.

Local residents alleged that the authorities are not taking any action despite repeated complaints and several such vehicles continue to transport sand across the border.

Residents have bought allegations that some youths were attacked by Sand mafias when they attempted to stop some of the sand-laden vehicle from crossing the border on Saturday evening.

According to reports, residents attempted to stop the sand-laden vehicles, but they allegedly crossed the border at high speed.

The locals have demanded an immediate halt to the alleged transportation and action against those behind it.
