Sambalpur’s Danipali youth murder case: Six accused arrested

Sambalpur: A youth was killed and two others were injured in a violent incident in the Danipali area under Ainthapali police station limits of Sambalpur district. Police have arrested six persons in connection with the case. The incident took place on Wednesday night at around 9 pm at a construction site in Danipali.

According to sources, a group of youths entered into an argument with laborers working at the under-construction building. There were around eight laborers present at the site when six youths approached them and started talking.

The situation soon escalated following a dispute, reportedly over asking the laborers to show their Adhaar cards. The argument turned violent and the laborers were allegedly assaulted.

In the attack, one labourer, identified as Sheikh Jewel Rana, a native of Murshidabad in West Bengal, died on the spot. Two others, Akur Rahman and Sonwar Hussain, sustained injuries and are undergoing treatment.

Police conducted raids at different locations and arrested six accused. Additional SP said further arrests would be made if the involvement of others is established. Police clarified that the victims were not Bangladeshi nationals.

The arrested accused will be produced before the court today.
