PM Modi urges citizens to celebrate National Handloom Day

New Delhi: On the eve of National Handloom Day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has urged the nation to acknowledge India’s diverse weaving heritage.
He urged people to adorn Indian weaves and in a special message, also asked them to post ‘Get Ready With Me’ (GRWM) videos wearing their favorite handloom attires.
It was a bid to promote and raise awareness of India’s immense handloom tradition ahead of National Handloom Day, observed on August 7 every year.
In the video posted on social media, the PM said the scheme would help weavers, artisans and small traders, besides promoting India’s handloom heritage.

He also asked the people to use #NationalHandloomDay to create more awareness.
National Handloom Day is celebrated every year on 7 August every year to mark the anniversary of the start of the Swadeshi Movement in 1905
It celebrates the role of handlooms industry and weaver’s community in the cultural as well as economic system of our country.
