The Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) has cancelled its recruitment advertisements for 1,711 Assistant Professor (Specialty) vacancies. Now, the recruitment drive to fill in the vacancies in government medical colleges and hospitals has been put on hold.
A fresh notification for the recruitment drive is being awaited. According to the commission, a fresh advertisement is being prepared based on a revised requisition, but no date has been announced for its release.
The commission said the decision followed the Bihar Health Department’s withdrawal of its requisitions for the appointments.
In an official notice, BPSC confirmed that Advertisement Nos. 04/2025 to 28/2025, which were published on April 4, 2025, stand cancelled. The earlier recruitment drive was intended to fill specialist faculty positions across medical colleges and hospitals in the state.

The development means candidates who applied under the previous notifications will have to wait for further instructions. The commission has not yet clarified whether the revised recruitment will retain all 1,711 vacancies or change the number of posts and their distribution across specialities.
However, the Health Department has now withdrawn its earlier requisitions for these appointments. As a result, the commission has cancelled the advertisements issued against those requirements and will prepare a fresh notification using the revised requisition.
The cancellation applies to Advertisement Nos. 04/2025 to 28/2025. Candidates should therefore not consider the vacancy details or application conditions mentioned in the earlier notices as confirmation of the terms for the upcoming recruitment exercise.
