Kataka: Around 80 newly appointed Police Sub-Inspectors across Odisha’s Central Range attended an orientation session in Kataka on Sunday, focused on equipping frontline officers to handle modern cybercrime, adhere strictly to procedural law, and maintain public trust.
The programme, organized by the Office of the Inspector General of Police (Central Range) under the direction of Odisha DGP (HoPF) Vinaytosh Mishra, took place at Padhee Memorial Hall inside the IPS Officers’ Mess.

Tackling Modern Cyber Offenses: Crime Branch DIG Madkar Sandeep Sampat, attending as guest of honour, briefed the cohort on emerging technology-driven crimes. He urged the sub-inspectors to cultivate technical fluency and specialized investigative skills early in their careers.
Frontline Guidance: Superintendents of Police from Kataka, Khordha, Puri, Kendrapara, Nayagada, and Jagatsinghpur shared operational case studies and practical advice on field leadership, investigation management, and public conduct.
Professional Resilience: Ram Kishore Sharma, representing National Career Services and former Head of the National Career Development Service (NCDS), Government of India, led a discussion on navigating workplace pressure, institutional accountability, and long-term career growth.
The participating sub-inspectors represent seven administrative districts: Kataka, Khordha, Puri, Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur, Nayagada, and Jajpur. The orientation concluded with an overarching call for ethical clarity, technological readiness, and impartial public service.
