Odisha rain alert: IMD issues orange warning for 5 districts, watch

Bhubaneswar: Widespread rainfall is expected over Odisha with heavy to very heavy showers in several parts of the state. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), heavy rainfall would be observed across on August 23, 24, 25, 26.
Five districts including Gajapati, Rayagada, Koraput, Mayurbhanj and Kendujhar districts are likely to receive heavy rainfall. Orange warning issued for these districts by IMD.
The monsoon trough is active and the cyclonic circulation is up to upper level of atmosphere to induce the widespread rainfall.
The Regional Meteorological Centre have issued a Yellow warning for Light to moderate rain with thundershower and lightning very likely at a few places over Ganjam, Gajapati, Rayagada, Malkangiri, Kalahandi, Puri, Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapada, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Baleswar and Mayurbhanj in the next 3 hours.

Locals are advised to keep themselves alert at changing weather conditions and adjust travelling/outdoor activities to reduce risk to self.
