Man arrested in sexual assault case after allegedly staging temple marriage

Boudha: A person named Akash Kanhar, a native of Ratanpur residing under Boudha Adarsha Police Station, has been taken into custody to registering a rape case against him.

The concerned woman had stated in her complaint that she became acquainted with the accussed via social media in the year 2021after being separated from her husband.

The duo, after this acquaintance, became involved in a consensual relationship subsequently.

The victim woman further stated that Kanhar had brought her to Puri and raped her.

And when she allegedly tried to reach the police, he had taken her to a temple and offered sindoor to her on her forehead through what the victim woman called a ‘filmy-style’ marriage proposal.

The victim said later Kanhar remained out of reach. The Zero FIR was registered in Boudh, later taken over by Bharatpur Police.

Bharatpur Police traced and arrested the accused in Boudh district. He was subsequently taken into custody as the investigation into the allegations continues.
