Summer vacation for schools likely to extend in view of prevailing heatwave

Bhubaneswar: Due to prevailing heatwave conditions, the Odisha government likely to extend summer vacation for schools in the entire state, informed Minister of School and Mass Education Nityananda Gond.

“Time will tell whether the summer vacation will be extended or not. A decision will be taken at that time based on the situation,” minister said.

“If the heat does not subside, the holidays may be extended. Student safety is our top priority,” he added.

The state government had announced an early summer vacation for all schools from April 27 due to the severe heatwave conditions across the state. The vacation was originally scheduled to end on June 17. However, officials have indicated that the duration may be revised depending on the intensity of the heat.
