5 injured after 11,000 KV wire snaps onto street in Noida

Noida: A tragic incident took place in which five people were injured after an 11 kV high-tension power line broke and fell on a road in Chhijarsi area, Noida, Uttar Pradesh yesterday evening.

The incident occurred when people were passing from that area. A scooter also caught fire after the power line fell on the road.

Following the incident, locals rushed to help the people who got affected in the incident and informed the police. The injured persons were taken to a hospital for treatment.

The victims of the incident are identified as Nidhi (15), Priya (17), Mukesh Ram (38), Pavitra (41), and Ravi Chaudhary. Four of them are stable but Ravi is said to be in a critical condition.

The reason behind the incident is being probed and the people of the affected area complained about the poor condition of the power lines earlier, electricity department has been asked to find out why the power line snapped.

Locals have also alleged that they have faced such issues before and the reason behind such an incident is the electricity department’s negligence and lack of regular inspection or maintenance.
