Bhubaneswar: The Revenue Department has reviewed the flood damage situation today. As per the information provided, 6 lakh people have been affected across 5 districts. Jajpur, Bhadrak and Balasore are the worst hit. Mayurbhanj and Keonjhar districts have also reported people affected.

So far, the administration has evacuated 1.65 lakh people. Arrangements have been made at 464 relief camps. The Revenue Department said dry food is being distributed to people stranded in floodwaters.

Meanwhile, Collectors of flood-affected districts have been directed to submit damage assessment reports within 3 days of floodwater receding.

Additional Chief Secretary of Revenue Department, Arabinda Padhee, has ordered reports on extent of crop loss and number of houses damaged.

Revenue Minister Suresh Pujari will conduct an aerial survey of flood-hit areas shortly.

ACS Revenue Arabinda Padhee and Special Relief Commissioner Rajesh Prabhakar Patil will visit Bhadrak, Balasore and Jajpur to assess the situation.

On the other hand, no rainfall is forecast for the next three days. Rain is expected again after August 2.

“No rain in the upper catchment of Chhattisgarh is a relief,” said Revenue Minister Suresh Pujari.

Currently, water level at Hirakud is 620 ft and 2 gates are open. 6.5 lakh cusecs of water was reaching Mundali. 9 lakh cusecs is expected to reach Naraj by tonight. Water has already reached low-lying areas of Badamba and Athagarh in Cuttack.

As per Central Water Commission report, water level at Mundali is above the warning level but below the danger mark. Water levels in various rivers have now started receding.
