Nabarangpur: House of Interstate Criminal Tuna Harijan Bulldozed

Nabarangpur: The Nabarangpur district administration on Sunday demolished a house allegedly constructed by notorious interstate criminal Tuna Harijan on encroached government land.
The demolition was carried out using a bulldozer at San Kusumi village on the outskirts of Nabarangpur town. According to reports, Tuna had allegedly encroached upon two government plots and constructed structures there. The administration launched an eviction drive on Sunday and cleared the alleged encroachments from both plots.
Tuna Harijan is accused in several criminal cases, including temple thefts, robberies and firing at police personnel. The administration’s action against the alleged encroachments has drawn attention in the district.
According to available information, more than 40 criminal cases have been registered against Tuna in Nabarangpur, Koraput, Kalahandi and Malkangiri districts of Odisha as well as neighbouring Chhattisgarh.

He had particularly come under the police scanner in connection with thefts of gold and silver ornaments from several temples and alleged attacks on police personnel.
Tuna, who had reportedly managed to evade police on several occasions, was eventually apprehended from the Jagdalpur area of Chhattisgarh. Police also reportedly recovered a substantial quantity of gold and silver ornaments from his possession.
Following his arrest, the Nabarangpur district administration has now removed the structures allegedly constructed by him on government land.
