Balasore: Rs 21 lakh found from manure pile, mother-son detained, watch

Balasore: In a shocking and surprising incident, around Rs 21 lakh was found from a manure pile at Mandaruni village under Kamarda police station limits of Odisha’s Balasore district today.

Based on a complaint, a team of officers from Hyderabad Crime Branch reportedly visited the village and seized the huge quantity of cash. They also detained a woman and her son for interrogation over the seizure.

According to one of the Crime Branch officers, one Gopal Behera of the village was working in a company named Agro Industries for the last 10 years. However, Gopal, reportedly looted around Rs 21 lakh from the company after turning off all the CCTV cameras and gave it to Rajendra Behera, his brother-in-law. Rajendra returned to the village and hid the money under the manure pile near his house.

Hyderabad Crime Branch started an investigation into the matter after getting a complaint over the loot. It is during the verification of the CCTV cameras of the company they suspected Gopal Behera’s role behind the loot and came to his village in search of him as he had already fled from the spot.

Meanwhile, they detained Rajendra and his mother for interrogation. Further probe is underway.
