Bhubaneswar celebrates 78th Foundation Day today, City decked up with colourful lights

Bhubaneswar is all decked up to celebrate it’s 78th Foundation Day on Monday. All major squares and the street stretching from Lok Sabha till Assembly has been adorned attractively with colourful lights, drawing attention from residents and visitors.
On this occasion, a series of official programmes and ceremonial events are being held across the city. A two days ‘Rajdhani Mahotsav’ is being he;d across the capital city on the occasion. The main event is being organised in front of the Odisha Legislative Assembly, where dignitaries and citizens gathered to commemorate the occasion.
Dignitaries offered floral tributes at the Bhubaneswar Foundation Day plaque. Several prominent personalities, including the Bhubaneswar MP, the Speaker and the Mayor, attended the event along with other distinguished guests. The school students also performed parade at the event.
On the occasion, a number of eminent individuals were honoured with the ‘Rajdhani Gaurav Samman’ in recognition of their contributions.

The capital observed the occasion with participation from public representatives, officials and residents.
India’s first Prime Minister Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru designated Bhubaneswar as the new capital city of Odisha on April 13, 1948. Famous German architect Otto Koenigsberg created the master plan for the Bhubaneswar city. He designed a modern city with separate areas for schools, markets, parks and administrative offices.
Bhubaneswar has a history of 2000 years. It is called the ‘City of Temples’ for having centuries-old temples like the Lingaraj Temple and Kalinga architecture. Over the years, Bhubaneswar city has become a hub of IT, culture, commerce, education, sports and tourism.
