New Delhi: The FBI has launched ‘Operation Hardball’, a major international crackdown targeting three global crime syndicates involved in murder, extortion, drug trafficking and other violent crimes across at least four countries.
According to reports, the operation focused on dismantling transnational networks that coordinated criminal activity from South Asia, the Middle East, Europe and North America.
As part of the coordinated raids, 24 people have been arrested so far. Officials said the suspects include alleged members and associates linked to the Lawrence Bishnoi syndicate, a gang that has been under scrutiny for contract killings and extortion in India and abroad.

The FBI stated that ‘Operation Hardball’ was carried out with assistance from partner law enforcement agencies in the four countries to disrupt financing, communications and weapons supply chains used by the groups.
Authorities described the syndicates as “highly organized” and accused them of using social media and encrypted apps to recruit and plan crimes. The investigation remains ongoing, with more arrests expected as agencies continue to trace assets and international links tied to the networks.
