Nayapalli Beherasahi rape case: Police register vehicle theft case against accused

Bhubaneswar: Another case has been registered against the accused involved in the sensational Nayapalli Beherasahi rape incident. This new case related to the theft of a vehicle from the Capital Police Station area (registered as Case No. 779/26).

Commissionerate Police register the vehicle theft case against the accused, Sridhar Panda alias Santosh. The charges include the seizure of the stolen vehicle, dismantling of its parts, and destruction of evidence. The Capital Police have also detained two accomplices who assisted in these activities.

After sexually assaulting a 26-year-old woman at gunpoint inside her residence in the Nayapalli police station jurisdiction on Wednesday night, the accused had stolen a red motorcycle from near Keshari Mall in Unit-2 to facilitate his escape; he subsequently dismantled the vehicle’s parts out of fear of getting caught. He even used the chassis parts on his own old vehicle.

The Capital Police are investigating the matter; they have registered another case against the accused, Sridhar, and are conducting a thorough probe.
