One part of the probe concerns alleged payments collected from candidates in exchange for government jobs.
Separately, investigators are examining allegations of manipulation in government tenders, with the ED previously alleging that bribes and commissions linked to contracts amounted to around ₹1,020 crore. These remain allegations under investigation.
More than 200 DMK supporters reportedly gathered outside Nehru’s residence in Tiruchirappalli as the searches were underway. The latest operation follows earlier DVAC searches at premises linked to the former minister in September.
Nehru has previously denied wrongdoing and described the action against him as politically motivated, stating that he would face the case through legal means.
The investigation is continuing, and further details about any material seized during Thursday’s searches were not immediately available.
