Youth drowns in Birupa River while going to Lord Shani temple

Salipur: In a tragic incident a youth drowned in the Birupa River in Mahanga area in Cuttack district of Odisha on Saturday.

The deceased has been identified as Padmalochan Jena from Kalianti village in the area.

As per reports, Padmalochan had gone with his friend Mrutyunjay Sethi to worship and do the Jalabhishek at the Lord Shani temple on the banks of Birupa River in Gunupur. While he was returning he somhow fell into the water and drowned.

Helpless Mrutyunjay, who was with him in the boat, came to the shore in distress and called the locals, the locals rescued Padmalochan from the river and sent him to Mahanga Community Health Center. The doctor declared him dead there. Mahanga police reached the spot, seized the body and sent it to Cuttack for autopsy and have started an investigation.
