Over 300 CCTV cameras installed for Snana Yatra in Puri, high tech surveillance formed

Puri: Ahead of the Deva Snana Purnima festival, elaborate security and traffic arrangements have been made, deploying an extensive surveillance network and implementing strict vehicular restrictions to ensure smooth conduct of the annual ritual.

During press meet, Puri Superintendent of Police Prateek Singh informed, around four lakhs of devotees are expected to arrive in the pilgrim town for the annual ritual, and elaborate arrangements have been made both inside and outside the Shree Jagannath Temple to ensure the smooth conduct of the event.

Over 300 CCTV cameras have been installed across key locations in and around the temple premises and the town to monitor crowd movement and maintain law and order.

“Inside the temple alone, 52 cameras have been deployed, while 250 cameras cover the temple surroundings, and 30 are installed at Market Chhak,” Singh said while briefing the media.

On traffic regulation, vehicles arriving from Bhubaneswar will be provided parking facilities at Market Chhak. Visitors intending to proceed towards the sea beach have been advised to park their vehicles near Digabareni. All buses heading to Puri will halt at Malatipatapur, while city buses will be stationed at Saradhabali and tourist buses at Talabania.

The police have prohibited vehicular movement on roads connecting to the Shree Jagannath Temple. Devotees will be allowed to enter the shrine through the Singhadwara (Lion’s Gate) and exit through the North Gate to facilitate crowd management.

Apart from police deployment, NCC cadets, civil defence personnel, fire services teams, and ambulances will also be stationed across the town to support emergency response and crowd-control operations.
