Koraput: Woman meets watery grave in pond in Lamtaput area

Lamtaput: In a tragic incident, a woman died after drowning in a pond in Koraput district of Odisha on Friday. The incident took place in Lamtaput area.

The deceased has been identified as Janamati Sisa of Kadramaliput village under Lamtaput block.

As per reports, she had gone to the pond as usual for open defecation. She reportedly slipped and went into the deep waters.

When Janamati did not return home for a long time, family members started searching for her. They found her slippers on the pond bank and immediately informed the Lamtaput fire services department.

Fire personnel reached the spot and fished out Janamati from the pond. She was rushed to the Lamtaput Community Health Centre, where doctors declared her dead.

Police reached the spot and have launched an investigation to ascertain the exact cause of the woman’s death.
