One person taken to hospital after fire breaks out at Catterick accommodation block

North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service attended Gaza Barracks, a single-living accommodation block housing personnel from the Light Dragoons, at 19:48 on Thursday.
The blaze was brought under control, with the last fire resources leaving the scene in the early hours of Friday morning at 02:43, the service said. On-site personnel also kept a watching brief overnight.

The fire service added that one person was taken to hospital suffering with smoke inhalation.
Pictures and video shared online showed large plumes of smoke billowing from the accommodation block, visible for miles, as firefighters doused the flames from an aerial platform.
The Army spokesperson said that everyone affected by the incident is being provided with alternative accommodation and relevant welfare support.
They added that the matter is still under investigation, and they cannot comment further.
