Gurkha veteran honoured with British Empire Medal for work supporting veterans in India
· Forces NewsA former Gurkha soldier who went on to support ex-servicemen and their families in India has been presented with the British Empire Medal in New Delhi.
Warrant Officer Class Two (Retd) Satyasagar Ghale was recognised in the official honours list for services to the British Gurkha Veterans community living in India.
Mr Ghale served with 6th Queen Elizabeth's Own Gurkha Rifles, having spent 21 years with the Brigade of Gurkhas before going on to work with the Gurkha Welfare Trust.

In his role of Honorary Area Welfare Officer for the British Gurkha Veterans Community, he has supported 94 ex-British Army servicemen and their families in India since 2005.
The medal was presented by the British High Commissioner to India, Lindy Cameron, at the High Commissioner's residence in New Delhi.
Family members attended the ceremony, including Major Kiran Pun MVO, Gurkha Major British Gurkhas Nepal.
