Lieutenant Colonel Tim Osman has stepped down as head coach of the Army Senior Men's team, Army Rugby Union has announced.

Lt Col Osman completes four seasons with the Army men's programme, including one year as interim head coach before serving three seasons in the post.

A statement from Army Rugby Union says that Lt Col Osman's decision to step down is to enable to him to "focus on his wider Army responsibilities and ongoing commitments within UK Armed Forces Rugby".

One of the most memorable moments under Lt Col Osman's leadership was the end of the Army v Navy clash in 2024, where the Army stole the win from the Royal Navy by one point in the game's dying moments.

The Army also won two Remembrance matches against the US Military and four Le Crunch wins against the French Army during his time as head coach.

Lt Col Osman also played the role of assistant coach during the UK Armed Forces' 2023 International Defence Rugby Competition campaign in France during his time as Army head coach.

The Army rugby men's team were also awarded Team of the Year at the Army Sports Awards in 2024, which later lead to them also winning the same award at the UK Armed Forces Sports Awards for the 2023/24 season.

The last two seasons however have seen the Army men narrowly lose out on the Inter Service title to the Royal Navy, who achieved back-to-back wins at Allianz Stadium in 2025 and 2026.

The Army Rugby Union has not commented on who the new head coach will be and when they will be brought in to replace Lt Col Osman.
