Prince Harry served in the British Army for a decade, until leaving the service in 2015.

Having passed the Regular Commissions Board (RCB) -the qualification necessary to train at the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst - in September 2004, he went on to complete 44 weeks of Officer Cadet training.

In 2006, he officially joined the Blues and Royals.

The following year, the prince was told he would not be allowed to deploy to Iraq for security reasons.

In 2008, he was deployed to Afghanistan for ten weeks.

During his time in the country, the now-Duke of Sussex served as a forward air controller, coordinating airstrikes on Taliban positions.

However, that tour ended early after reports in international media of his whereabouts.

He later went on to serve with the Army in Helmand Province, Afghanistan, where he served for more than two months.

Prince Harry then retrained as an Apache pilot in the Army Air Corps and returned to Afghanistan in 2012 as a helicopter co-pilot and gunner.

Before leaving operational service, he spent four weeks in April and May 2015 working with the Australian Defence Force, attached to different units.
