Killer dies of heart attack while disposing of victim's body
by Rob Beschizza · Boing BoingA Georgia man killed a woman then died while trying to dispose of her remains in the Alabama woods. The bodies of Daniel Robbins, 44, and Jessica Folds, 47, were discovered on June 10 in Chambers County after a passerby reported an abandoned vehicle on County Road 86.
The mystery was soon resolved, as an autopsy showed that Folds had died of strangulation and Robbins of a heart attack, with his nearby truck's engine still running and drag marks from its tailgate to the scene. They were reportedly romantic partners.
"Based on the investigation by ALEA and the Chambers County Sheriff's Office, and the autopsy done by the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences, the female victim was strangled, and it appears the male was attempting to dispose of the body in a remote location," District Attorney Mike Segrest told media. "He died of a heart attack while doing it. Their bodies were right there together."
It's like something out of Fargo. As many as 1500 people die each year shoveling snow; numbers aren't clear for shoveling earth, but that even more taxing on the body.
Far more men than women die while shoveling.
"Men look at this like it's their job," Franklin said. "It's a macho thing."
Here's a news segment about the case from WTVM News.
Folds was the mother of three adult sons. "Jessica lived and worked many places in the Auburn-Opelika area," according to her obituary."Jessica touched the lives of many with her heart of gold, deep love for everyone, and a smile that brightened the world."
