DC Srinagar asks banks to accelerate priority sector lending
by GK NEWS SERVICE · Greater KashmirSrinagar, Dec 19: Deputy Commissioner Srinagar, Akshay Labroo, chaired a meeting of the District Level Review Committee/District Consultative Committee (DLRC/DCC) to review the performance of banks and sponsoring departments in the implementation of government-sponsored and flagship schemes for the financial year 2025–26.
During the meeting, the DC conducted a sector-wise review of bank performance and assessed achievements under priority and non-priority sector lending in line with the Annual Credit Plan. He called upon banks and sponsoring agencies to accelerate priority sector lending and improve ease of access to banking services for customers.
Emphasising effective implementation of self-employment schemes, the DC stressed focused execution of programmes such as Mission YUVA, Holistic Agriculture Development Programme (HADP), JKCIP and PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana. He also underlined the need for stronger handholding of beneficiaries to enhance financial inclusion and credit outreach.
The DC said good performance at the branch level would be recognised through awards, while underperformance would be closely monitored. He directed banks to ensure compassionate customer handling and timely grievance redressal, and stressed close coordination with line departments.
