New Delhi, Dec 23: Bangladesh on Tuesday summoned Indian High Commissioner Pranay Verma to convey Dhaka’s concerns over recent incidents of protests near Bangladesh diplomatic missions and facilities in India, The Daily Star reported. Bangladesh Foreign Secretary Asad Alam Siam called in the envoy around 9.30 am, at the Bangladesh Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Dhaka raised objections to incidents reported outside the Bangladesh High Commission and the official residence in New Delhi on Saturday, as well as vandalism at the Bangladesh Visa Centre in Siliguri a day earlier.

Bangladesh also expressed deep concern over what it described as violent protests outside several of its diplomatic missions in India, condemning the incidents. The Bangladesh government urged India to conduct a thorough investigation, prevent a recurrence and ensure the safety and security of Bangladeshi missions in line with international diplomatic obligations, the report said.
