DC Kupwara flags off Girls Trekking Camp to Nowgam
by GK NEWS SERVICE · Greater KashmirKupwara, Nov 27: Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kupwara, Shrikant Suse, on Thursday flagged off a Girls Trekking Camp to Nowgam, Handwara, from the DC Office Kupwara.
As per an official statement, the flag-off ceremony was attended by ACR Kupwara, Peerzada Mumtaz Ahmad, and ASP Kupwara, Javaid Ahmad, along with officials from the District Youth Services & Sports Office.
The trekking camp has been organised by the Youth Service & Sports department of Kupwara with the objective of encouraging young girls to explore adventure sports, build confidence, and develop a healthy connection with nature. The participants will trek through the picturesque landscapes of Nowgam, Bangus, known for its serene environment and rich biodiversity.
Speaking on the occasion, DC Kupwara highlighted the importance of such outdoor camps in shaping the personality of young participants, stating that adventure activities play a key role in promoting discipline, teamwork, and resilience among youth. He also appreciated the efforts of the Youth Services & Sports Department for consistently organising meaningful and youth-centric programmes.
This initiative is part of the Youth Services & Sports Department’s annual activity calendar for 2025, which includes a series of programmes aimed at enhancing youth participation in sports, adventure, and cultural activities across the district.
