Vice Chairman DDC Srinagar among eight arrested for gambling - Greater Kashmir

Srinagar, Oct 27: Srinagar police Saturday said they arrested 8 persons including the city’s District Development Council (DDC) Vice Chairman, Bilal Ahmad Bhat on charges of illegal gambling.

An official said that the arrests took place under FIR No.106, registered at Ram Munshi Bagh Police Station, with authorities invoking Section 13 of the Jammu and Kashmir Gambling Act.

   

According to the challan produced by Ram Munshi Bagh Police Station, Bhat, along with seven others were apprehended during a raid in Srinagar after credible information led law enforcement to the gambling site.

The raid resulted in the seizure of cash and other incriminating materials, reported news agency KDC.

Chief Judicial Magistrate of Srinagar, after reviewing the instant challan, has sent all the accused persons to Central Jail Srinagar until the next hearing.

The next hearing of this case is set for November 7.
