Asda and Sainsbury's issue urgent warning on popular bread product — 'do not eat'

by · BristolLive

Supermarkets Asda and Sainsbury's are urgently recalling a batch of brown rolls after they were found to be a possible health risk due to a mix-up which could affect those with a soy allergy. The recall is on a selection of McGhee's Family Bakers Scottish Brown Rolls, where due to a packaging mishap, certain packs may contain white rolls which contain soya.

Both Food Standards Scotland (FSS) and the supermarkets have advised customers with a soy allergy not to eat the product and return it for a full refund. The FSS has stated: "McGhee's Family Bakers are recalling packs of six Scottish Brown Rolls."

They added: "Due to a packaging error, several packs include white rolls which contain soya. This means the product is a possible health risk for anyone with an allergy to soya."

In the details provided, they further stated: "This product may contain soya making it a possible health risk for anyone with an allergy to soya. If you have bought the above product and have an allergy to soya do not eat it."

Customers are being instructed to return the product from where it was bought to get a full refund, reports the Express.

The specific item under recall is Farmfoods 50 Cocktail Sausage Rolls.
