Three people were critically injured after a speeding Mahindra Thar allegedly hit them near PKC Hospital in Vashi, Navi Mumbai. The driver allegedly fled the spot after the crash instead of helping the injured.

The incident occurred when the Thar, bearing registration number MH 43 CP 6325, allegedly struck three people with considerable force. Eyewitness accounts suggest the vehicle was being driven recklessly, leaving the victims no opportunity to evade the impact. All three sustained serious injuries.

The three injured men have been identified as Prince Ratkumar Gupta, Manoj Ramphal Gupta and Nikhil Gupta. All three sustained serious injuries in the accident and are undergoing treatment at Sion Hospital in Mumbai.

Vashi Police have registered a case against the driver under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Motor Vehicles Act.

However, the accused was not arrested. Police issued him a notice under Section 35(3) of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) and subsequently released him.

The accused's profile has sparked questions about his identity. Police have identified him as 32-year-old Amar Gurkha Yadav, whose profession is listed as that of an office boy.

Sources have questioned whether he was the person driving the Mahindra Thar involved in the accident and pointed to the apparent mismatch between his stated occupation and ownership or use of a vehicle valued at around Rs 20-25 lakh.

Vashi Police have not officially confirmed any discrepancy in the accused's identity and have not indicated that any other person was behind the wheel at the time of the crash.

Further investigation is underway under the supervision of senior officers at Vashi Police Station. Details of the FIR and further findings are awaited.
