Nottinghamshire Police has not revealed the reason why a stretch of the A52 in Nottinghamshire was closed for eight hours a week on. Bardill's Island roundabout, between Toton and Stapleford, was shut on Saturday, October 26 until the early hours of Sunday, October 27.

The closure stretched all the way to the Bramcote Island roundabout near the Sherwood Arms, a distance of nearly 1.5 miles. A witness reported that a collision was the reason for the closure, but the police force has not confirmed this, despite Nottinghamshire Live asking for information on a number of occasions.

Eight police cars and a fire engine were seen ta the scene at around 11.30pm on Saturday night, with the road reopened at around 7.40am the next morning. Traffic was heavy on Sunday morning as motorists were forced to divert. The reported collision is said to have involved two vehicles.
