Met Office issues fog warning for Nottinghamshire as 'difficult driving conditions' expected

The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for fog in Nottinghamshire, with "difficult" driving conditions expected. The alert is in place from 8pm on Wednesday, January 15 until 11am on Thursday.

It covers the vast majority of Nottinghamshire and wider East Midlands, with North-East and South-West England also affected. The fog will result in difficult driving conditions and is likely to lead to slower journey times and delays to public transport, the Met Office said.

There is also a chance of delays or cancellations to flights. "Areas of fog will continue to develop through Wednesday evening and overnight and, in places, will be dense with visibility below 100 metres," said the weather agency.

It added: "Some of the fog will tend to thin and lift into low cloud across parts of southern England and the southeast Midlands by dawn, but is likely to persist in a corridor from southwest England through the rest of the Midlands to Lincolnshire and Yorkshire until late morning."
