Machete 'pulled out' in alleged robbery in Strelley as teenage boy arrested
by Laycie Beck · NottinghamshireLiveA man was threatened and robbed in Strelley after a machete was allegedly pulled out during an incident. The victim had arranged to meet someone yesterday (Thursday, November 14) in order to buy an electronic item for his bike.
However, during the meeting the suspect allegedly pulled out a machete from his waistband. He reportedly lunged at the victim before stealing his bike at around 8pm.
The victim ran off into nearby garden and was not injured during the incident on Prestwick Close. Nottinghamshire Police arrested a 15-year-old boy during the early hours of Friday, November 15 on suspicion of robbery.
The teenager remains in custody. Detective Sergeant Chris Mavers, from Nottinghamshire Police, said: “While our inquiries remain in their early stages, we are treating this report seriously and as a result of positive action taken we detained a suspect in relation to this incident.
“Carrying a knife or bladed weapon in public is a very serious offence that can destroy people’s lives. As such, this kind of behaviour simply will not be tolerated by Nottinghamshire Police and offenders will be robustly dealt with. Investigations into this incident are still ongoing.
"As such, we are still very keen to speak to anyone else who may have witnessed it or have any information which could help us with our inquiries.”
