A prominent Nottingham pub has been forced to close until further notice after being hit by a devastating fire overnight.
Police and fire services have launched an investigation into a blaze at The Crown Hotel, in Wollaton, in the early hours of Wednesday, July 22.
The pub, situated at Crown Island, suffered severe damage in the fire, which scorched an extension building and blew out several windows, as well as spreading to the main building.
Nottinghamshire Police said the fire was not being treated as a "suspicious incident".
Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service (NFRS), which deployed four crews to the scene after receiving a call at 1.44am, said the blaze reportedly began in a gazebo at the rear of the property before spreading to outer buildings.
Police officers and fire officials remained at the pub which was taped off on Wednesday morning.
In a statement posted on social media, a spokesperson for The Crown said: "Unfortunately we will be closed until further notice due to a very bad fire."
Nearby pubs rushed to show support for the Crown on social media on Wednesday morning.
The Whitemoor, which was hit by an arson attack last year, said their "hearts are with everyone" at the pub.
"We at The Whitemoor understand all too well the devastation that a fire can cause. We went through it ourselves last year, so we know the heartbreak, the uncertainty, and the long road that lies ahead," said a spokesperson.
"To everyone at The Crown, please know that you're not alone. We're here for you in any way we can help."
The Fox and Crown, which is located in Basford, added: "Our hearts are absolutely broken for everyone at The Crown following the devastating fire.
"A local pub is so much more than bricks and mortar. It’s where friendships are made, milestones are celebrated, stories are shared, and the community comes together through both the good times and the difficult ones. Seeing this happen is absolutely heartbreaking."
