VP Sara impeachment trial to start July 6, says Erwin Tulfo

MANILA, Philippines — The impeachment trial for Vice President Sara Duterte will begin July 6, Sen. Erwin Tulfo said on Thursday, May 21.

Tulfo, in an interview on GMA's Unang Balita, said senators were informed of the schedule yesterday in an all-member caucus led by Senate President Alan Peter Cayetano.

The trial will likely take place in the afternoons after the Senate's regular sessions from Monday to Wednesday. Meanwhile, only the Senate's regular sessions will take place on Thursdays.

The vice president's office confirmed yesterday that they've received the summons from the Senate impeachment court, along with the articles of impeachment.

Duterte has until June 1 to respond.
