Taguig infra probe opened a 'cauldron of worms' — Lacson

MANILA, Philippines — Sen. Panfilo Lacson signaled no retreat in his ongoing investigation into alleged infrastructure anomalies in Taguig City, warning that corrupt officials will soon be “drowned in the truth” as new findings expose a wider web of unlawful activities.

In a social media post on Tuesday, August 4, Lacson said his case study on Taguig had expanded into a "cauldron of worms" following a crucial meeting with Philippine Reclamation Authority (PRA) officials.

According to Lacson, the meeting uncovered fraudulent schemes ranging from non-existent "ghost" slope protection projects to unauthorized land reclamation spanning parts of Laguna Lake.

“Aside from the PRA and the Ombudsman, we will closely coordinate with the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) central office, Laguna Lake Development Authority (LLDA) and other concerned agencies not only to jail the crooks behind these grossly anomalous and patently illegal activities but also forfeit the already reclaimed Lakeshore areas in favor of the national government,” Lacson said.

“There is no turning back!” he added.

On July 28, Lacson said he submitted the documentary and testimonial evidence from his investigation into alleged anomalies in Taguig infrastructure projects to the Office of the Ombudsman.

According to Lacson, his office estimated that Taguig accumulated around P14.4 billion worth of infrastructure projects from 2020 to 2025.

The probe into infrastructure projects in Taguig, the political stronghold of Senate Minority Leader Alan Peter Cayetano, was launched after Cayetano questioned Lacson's integrity.
