MANILA, Philippines — In a bid to recognize city mayors who have demonstrated exceptional leadership, transparency, and a commitment to human development, the Federation of Filipino-Chinese Chambers of Commerce & Industry Inc. and the Angelo King Foundation Inc. have joined forces to launch the FFCCCII-AKFI Exemplar City Mayor Award 2026.

Launched on March 17, 2026, the award is a joint initiative aimed at promoting good governance and highlighting human development as the bedrock of effective city administration. The program evaluates city mayors nominated by their local Filipino-Chinese chambers of commerce and industry chapters, focusing on those currently serving their third term.

The final deliberation is entrusted to a distinguished panel of judges comprising experts from finance, civil society organizations, and public service whose task is as challenging as it is prestigious: naming the ultimate winner.

The panel of judges consists of the following individuals:

• ? Roberto De Ocampo: partner and founding partner of the Centennial Group and chairman of Centennial Asia Advisors. He is also a former secretary of finance.

• ? Philip Francisco Dy: president of Metrobank Foundation Inc., and executive director of the GT Foundation.

• ? Carlo Enrico Lazatin: president and CEO of DES Financing Corp., and president of both FINEX and the Philippine Finance Association.

• ? Donald Patrick Lim: president of the Management Association of the Philippines and DITO CME Holdings Corp.

• ?Austere Panadero: chairman of the Association of Foundations and president and executive director of the Zuellig Family Foundation. He previously served as an undersecretary for the Department of the Interior and Local Government.

Nominees are evaluated based on four key pillars: anti-graft and integrity of governance; city’s financial governance; business-friendliness and competitiveness; and human development programs.

“Strong leadership builds progressive and resilient cities,” the organizers stated, emphasizing that the award is anchored on a shared vision of a business-friendly environment and social protection.
