Secret Service launches internal investigation into three officials over security concerns
by By The News Digital · The News InternationalThree US Secret Service officials have been placed on administrative leave while the agency investigates potential misconduct, officials said Tuesday.
The three employees were working in non-law-enforcement roles, according to the Secret Service's public information office.
The agency's Office of Professional Responsibility has opened an investigation, but officials have not disclosed what prompted the review or provided details about the alleged misconduct.
The investigation comes as the Secret Service faces increased scrutiny following several security incidents involving President Donald Trump and other senior officials.
Trump has faced at least three reported assassination plots over the past two years.
In April, police said an armed man breached security at the Washington Hilton while Trump was attending the White House Correspondents' Association dinner.
The agency also faced questions over Trump's departure from Turkey earlier this month.
Trump confirmed he left aboard an alternative military aircraft because the Secret Service and military wanted him on a “different plane” amid concerns about a potential Iranian assassination threat.
Separately, the Secret Service confirmed last month that an agent assigned to Vice President JD Vance's security detail was being investigated over allegations linked to a suspected media leak.
