In a similar vein, an anonymous tip reportedly alerted the authorities.
Buscando Corazones Nogales, a group that aims to find missing persons, sprang into action.
They combed Mariposa – the area where the tip pointed to the presence of Nancy's grave – but haven't found the old lady.
Notably, it is the area where previously over two dozen graves have been discovered.
For exactly this reason, Buscando Corazones Nogales vowed to continue scouring the area to find clues about the whereabouts of other missing people.
But regarding Nancy, the Pima County Sheriff's Department has now released a statement.
The agency is at the forefront of the investigation of the missing case that gripped the nation.
"We are aware of reports regarding an anonymous tip related to the Nancy Guthrie investigation that was provided to a group in Mexico."
Interestingly, the Mexican authorities have not yet contacted their counterparts.
"At this time, we have not been contacted by Mexican authorities."
"This investigation remains active and ongoing, and we will continue to follow up on any credible information," the statement read.
