JD Vance 'prophesying' wife Usha to follow Catholicism?
by By The News Digital · The News InternationalJD Vance and his wife, Usha Vance, recently opened up about how they make their interfaith marriage a success.
On Sunday, June 14, the Vice President of the United States and the second lady illuminated CBS’ Sunday Morning with their presence, where they were asked about their marriage and the efforts they put into making their relationship stronger, especially when they both have different religious backgrounds.

Usha responded to national correspondent Robert Costa, explaining, “I think people really caught on to the idea, at one point, that JD was interested in my conversion.”
“And I think that was misunderstood for the fundamental reason that he is Catholic, part of his faith is wanting to spread his faith, but it’s not like he’s prophesying to me every day,” she clarified.
Notably, Usha, who is a believer of the Hindu religion, referred to JD’s remarks at the 2025 Turning Point USA event, who said he wanted his wife to follow his religion.
He quipped, “For us, it works out now most Sundays — Usha will come with me to church, as I’ve told her, and I’ve said publicly, and I’ll say now in front of 10,000 of my closest friends, do I hope eventually that she is somehow moved by the same thing that I was moved in by the church? Yeah, I honestly, I do wish that, because I believe in the Christian Gospel, and I hope eventually my wife comes to see it the same way,” he quipped at that time.
“But if she doesn’t, then God says everybody has free will, and so that doesn’t cause a problem for me,” JD said at that time.
For those unaware, JD, who converted to Catholicism in 2019, faced severe backlash for his statement because many believed that he was forcing his wife to follow his brand of Christianity and leave her Hindu religion.
It is pertinent to mention JD Vance and Usha Vance have been married since 2014, and share three children, Ewan, 9, Vivek, 6, and Mirabel, 4. The couple, who is expecting their fourth child due in late July, is raising their children Christian.
