Henry Kissinger’s wife Nancy Kissinger dies at 92, three years after his death

Nancy Kissinger, the wife of late former US Secretary of State Henry Kissinger, has died at the age of 92, according to a report.

Kissinger died on Thursday at her home in South Kent, Connecticut, the New York Times reported, citing an announcement from her family.

Born Nancy Sharon Maginnes in Manhattan in 1934, Kissinger was not a US diplomat but regularly accompanied her husband on diplomatic trips during his decades in international affairs.

She travelled with him to Russia, the Middle East and other parts of the world and appeared alongside him during meetings and events involving prominent global leaders.

The couple were also regular attendees at state dinners, embassy functions and White House receptions, particularly during Republican administrations.

Nancy and Henry Kissinger had no children together and she is survived by two stepchildren and five step-grandchildren.

Henry Kissinger served as US secretary of state under presidents Richard Nixon and Gerald Ford and was one of the most influential and controversial figures in US foreign policy during the Cold War.

He died in November 2023 at the age of 100.
