Iran says it is militarily ready to respond to US aggression as ceasefire tensions grow

Iran’s top negotiator Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf said Iran is “prepared for every option” as negotiations with the United States remain stalled amid growing tensions over the ongoing conflict.

In a post on social media on Monday, Ghalibaf warned that Iran’s military was ready to respond to any attack.

“Our armed forces are prepared to deliver a lesson-giving response to any aggression,” Ghalibaf wrote.

“A strategy of miscalculation and mistaken decisions will always produce mistaken results; the whole world has understood this by now. We are prepared for every option. They will be surprised.”

Later on Monday, the Iranian parliament speaker said there was “no alternative” but for Washington to accept the rights of the Iranian people under Tehran’s proposed 14-point plan.

“Any other approach will be completely inconclusive; nothing but one failure after another,” Ghalibaf added.

“The longer they drag their feet, the more American taxpayers will pay for it.”

Ghalibaf recently led negotiations with US officials in Islamabad, Pakistan, but has faced criticism from Iranian hard-liners who viewed his approach towards Washington as too soft.

The comments came after US President Donald Trump described Iran’s latest proposal as “unacceptable” and warned that the ceasefire was on “massive life support.”
