According to the survey, Trump’s net approval rating now stands at around -26, the worst figure recorded in any Economist/YouGov poll during either of his terms in office.

Independent voters also appeared to be turning further against the president. The poll found that 71 percent of Independents disapprove of Trump’s performance, marking another record low for the president in the polling series.

The nationwide survey interviewed 1,604 adults between 29 May and 1 June and has a margin of error of plus or minus 3.5 percentage points.

The latest findings come just a week after another Economist/YouGov poll showed Trump’s disapproval rating at 59 percent.

Economic concerns also remain high among voters. According to the poll released on 27 May, 63 percent of Americans said the economy is getting worse, while only 13 percent believed conditions were improving.

Other polling averages released on 2 June also showed Trump underwater politically. The New York Times polling average recorded 38 percent approval and 58 percent disapproval, while RealClearPolitics showed 40.1 percent approval and 57.2 percent disapproval.
