Suspect arrested after Ontario police officer killed on duty near Hearst
by By The News Digital · The News InternationalAn Ontario Provincial Police officer has died after being seriously injured during an investigation near Hearst, Ontario, police confirmed on Tuesday.
The OPP identified the officer as Const. Tarun Bali, a member of the Dufferin Detachment who had served with the force for two and a half years and was deployed with the James Bay Detachment at the time of the incident.

Police said the incident happened at around 12:30 PM near Kendall Concession Road 7 and Concession Road 6 in the Hearst area.
“A member of the OPP was seriously injured and has since been pronounced deceased,” the OPP said in a statement.
Authorities confirmed that one person is currently in custody.
The OPP Criminal Investigation Branch is leading the investigation alongside the Office of the Chief Coroner and the Ontario Forensic Pathology Service.
CTV News reported that Bali’s body is expected to be transported to the Chief Coroner’s Office in Toronto on Wednesday, with emergency vehicles escorting the remains during the roughly 10-hour journey.
“The OPP is supporting the member’s family as they navigate this profound loss,” the provincial police force said in its statement.
Police are asking anyone with information about the incident to contact the OPP or Crime Stoppers anonymously.
