Trump criticises Israel over Beirut strike amid as US and Iran inch closer to a deal
by By The News Digital · The News InternationalUS President Donald Trump has criticised Israel’s latest strike on Beirut, warning that further attacks could jeopardise ongoing negotiations aimed at securing peace with Iran.
In a post on Truth Social on Friday, Trump said Israel’s attack on the southern suburbs of the Lebanese capital “should not have happened”, especially as Washington and Tehran are reportedly close to reaching an agreement.

“This morning’s attack on Beirut should not have happened, particularly on a special day when we are so close to a Peace Deal with Iran,” Trump wrote.
Trump acknowledged Israel’s right to defend itself but argued the incident that triggered the response was minor.
“Israel has the right to defend itself against threats, but the attack it was responding to was very small and meaningless, nobody was hurt, injured, or killed, and should not disrupt this important process,” he added.
He also urged all parties to avoid further escalation along the Israel-Lebanon border.
“There should be no more attacks by Israel anywhere in Lebanon, but there should also be no more attacks by any other party, including Hezbollah, against Israel,” Trump said.
“This could be the beginning of a long and beautiful peace — Let’s not blow it!”
