by · Inside Sport India

As per reports, PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi has been invited to India for the ICC meeting in Ahmedabad but hasn't decided if he will travel or not.

Pakistan Cricket Board chairman Moshin Naqvi has reportedly been invited to attend the ICC’s chief executives’ committee meeting in Ahmedabad which is scheduled to take pace between May 30-31. However, it remains to be seen if the PCB chief will travel to India, given the geopolitical tensions between India and Pakistan which has prevailed over the past decade or so. As per reports, Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is expected to take the final call on whether Naqvi should travel to India for the ICC meeting.

Will Naqvi travel to India for the ICC meeting?

As per RevSportz, Naqvi has been invited for the important ICC meeting scheduled to take place between May 30 and 31 in Ahmedabad. The final day of the meeting coincides with the IPL 2026 final, which will be held at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. As per the report, the Pakistan PM will take a call on whether the PCB chairman should travel to India or not by next week as it involves massive diplomatic stakes. Meanwhile, a GeoSuper report claims that Naqvi has been extended an invitation, he is yet to confirm that independently.

Naqvi, who is also a politician (Interior Minister for Pakistan), was caught in the eye of storm last year after refusing to hand over the Asia Cup Trophy to the winners – India. Since then, despite the BCCI making efforts to lay their hands on the rightful trophy and the medals, the silverware has been locked in his office in Dubai as he is also the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) chairman. Naqvi had even refused to apologize to the BCCI, making no effort to diffuse tensions between the two boards. He instead said that the Indian team should visit him in person in Dubai to collect their trophy and medals. While the BCCI had vowed to raise this issue with the ICC way back in November, there has been no breakthrough in the case thus far.

The Indian cricket team hasn’t travelled to Pakistan for any bilateral series or an ICC event since the 26/11 attacks in Mumbai. India have declined to travel to Pakistan for any tournament, and instead have opted to play tourneys at a neutral venue. That was the case in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026, ICC Women’s World Cup 2025 as well. While Pakistan attempted to threaten India with ‘boycott T20 World Cup’ claims over weeks, in an attempt to support and excluded Bangladesh, they eventually did.
