A valid visa or entry permit, where applicable, is also required, along with a return or onward travel ticket to confirm that the visitor intends to leave the country.
Travellers are additionally expected to show proof of sufficient funds to cover their stay in Malaysia, as well as a confirmed accommodation booking or an invitation letter from a host residing in the country.
Health-related documentation, where required under current regulations, rounds out the six-document checklist.
The authorities noted that travellers who arrive without the necessary paperwork may face delays at the border or be refused entry altogether.
What travellers should know before visiting Malaysia
Malaysian immigration officials emphasised that these requirements are not new in principle but are being enforced with greater consistency.
The authorities urged travellers to prepare all documentation well in advance of their journey to avoid unnecessary disruptions at the border.
"Travellers are advised to ensure that all required documents are complete and valid before proceeding to the entry or exit points," officials stated.
The move comes as Malaysia continues to welcome a rising number of international visitors, with the government investing in efforts to make the country an attractive destination while maintaining robust immigration standards.
Travellers are encouraged to visit official Malaysian immigration channels for the most current and country-specific entry requirements before departure.
