Ghana’s stability comes first – Afenyo-Markin calls out NDC for defying court Orders

Majority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin has reiterated the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) commitment to maintaining peace and stability in Ghana, insisting that the party will not permit any disruptions.

Speaking to journalists after the NPP walked out of Parliament due to rising tensions with the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), he emphasized the importance of dialogue and respect for the rule of law.

Afenyo-Markin contrasted the NPP’s approach, rooted in judicial processes for resolving disputes, with what he described as the NDC’s disregard for the courts.

He highlighted the party’s historical reliance on the judiciary to address electoral concerns, asserting that peaceful solutions are essential for national governance.

With tensions escalating following a contentious Supreme Court ruling, Afenyo-Markin expressed concern over the NDC’s refusal to respect judicial decisions, warning that such defiance threatens democratic principles.

He called for all political parties to prioritize Ghana’s stability and adhere to the law, stating, “If the NDC truly has the interest of Ghanaians at heart, they must respect the decisions of our courts.”
