US President Donald Trump took a victory lap in an address to a divided Congress on Tuesday (Mar 4), touting his achievements in tackling illegal border crossings and vowing to balance the federal budget.
He reiterated his intention to impose additional reciprocal tariffs on Apr 2, a move that would likely roil financial markets even more.
"America is back," he said as he began his first Congress speech since returning to the White House. "The American dream is surging bigger and better than before."
Since Trump's inauguration six weeks ago, the country has been gripped by his moves to dramatically reshape the federal government and redefine foreign policy.
His speech was interrupted by some Democratic lawmakers who held up signs and walked out mid-speech in protest.
