Former US President Hospitalised After Developing Fever
Former President Bill Clinton was admitted to MedStar Georgetown University Hospital in Washington, DC, on Monday afternoon where he is undergoing testing and observation after developing a fever, CNN has reported.
In an interview with CNN, Angel Urena, deputy chief of staff to Clinton, said “The president is fine,” and added that the former president is hopeful to be home by Christmas. “He remains in good spirits and deeply appreciates the excellent care he is receiving”, he added.
The 78-year-old former president was at his home in Washington when he was taken to the Georgetown University Medical Center. He is expected to remain at least overnight in the hospital, an aide said, describing the former president as “awake and alert.”
Bill Clinton, who left the White House over two decades ago, has gone through many health scares. Earlier, the two-time US president had a quadruple bypass heart surgery in New York in 2004. Following the year, he experienced a partially collapsed lung the following year. He went through another heart procedure in 2010 when two stents were inserted into a coronary artery. In 2021, he was hospitalized in Los Angeles for six days for a urological infection that spread to his bloodstream.
Bill Clinton served as the president of the US from 1993 to 2001. He has also served as the Governor of Arkansas. Clinton has spoken at every Democratic National Convection, since 1976. A member of the Democratic party, he expressed his support to Kamala Harris for the democratic candidate for the US Presidential Elections in 2024, stating that he wants America to be more inclusive, and more future-focused.
